Safety

Marbles are round.

Please always be aware of where they may fall.  If you have a leather smock, that would be best.  If not, (I don’t have one at the time of making these videos),  I stand.  This way, if the marble gets away from me, I can move back quickly, and get some tongs to pick up the marble in order to continue.

If the marble drops.  Don’t grab it with your hands.  Hot glass sticks to skin.  I have a pair of kitchen tongs (from the dollar store) near just for picking up hot marbles off of the floor.

Flame working is safe, as long as we know where the flame is, and where the hot glass and hot tools are.

Frequently asked questions

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

Do I have to use the Hardened fiberboard for Marbles that you sell?

No, you do not need to use the Hardened fiberboard for Marbles that I sell.  But, I highly recommend it.  You can use a graphite marble mold, as long as it is on a handle.  The table top version gets too hot to handle.

Can I make my own fiber mold?

Yes you can. (Unless you already have hardener and 1/2″ fiber board, it can get pretty pricy to make just one.)

Can I make my own steel punties?

Yes you can.  Just grind a small (1/8 inch deep) point on one side, and grind the other side flat.

If I can’t watch on the Launch date, can I watch the videos later?

Yes.  All of the videos are located in our classroom on this website.  These videos are available for you to watch for the lifetime of this website. But you must be registered before the Launch Date.

Can I purchase this class after the Launch Date?

This class is available as an on-demand class and can be purchased anytime.

I have never made anything in hot glass before. Is this the right course for me to start my glass journey with?

No, This course is for soft glass bead makers or boro glass workers who have at least 3-6 months experience.  There are a few beginning beads classes available on this website.

Are you available to help me if I have questions:

YES, Ask any question you have right within the classroom.  (at the lesson)

Will there be office hours?

No office hours, but you can ask questions in the workshop!

How long do I have access to this course

For the life of this website.

What tools do I need to take this course?

Your basic flameworking tools plus a graphite marble mold, some stainless steel punties, and I highly recommend my hardened fiberboard for marbles.

What do I do if I am having problems accessing the course content?

First, log out, then log back in.  You must log in using the same email that you used when you purchased the course with.  If you can’t remember your password, that is ok.  just request for a new password.  All your classes are always found in your products

Testimonials

Honestly the best online class I have taken.
Thank you Bronwen

Susan Richards

Wonderful class! I learned so many new techniques. Now my marbles are actually round. I just printed out the PDFs, thanks for your help.

Susan Haskell

Marbles were always something I stayed away from because of the use of Puntys! This class helped me conquer that fear and has opened windows into other ventures for me to explore. It also answered so many questions I had about the process and explained how so many effects were achieved. Thanks Bronwen! I loved it!
