Patty Lakinsmith - The Glass Acorn

Since she began her love affair with hot glass on a whim in 2003, much of Patty’s work has been inspired by the woods surrounding her mountain studio, by the plants she lovingly tends in her garden, and by her outdoor adventures while traveling. Surface patterning techniques resembling cells and scales intrigue her, both from a botanical and a biological perspective, as do flowers and dew drops. She also loves the process and challenge of engineering glass components into art jewelry pieces using her own work and sometimes incorporating the work of other collaborators. She employs lampworking, metalsmithing, electroforming, and fiber and wire weaving techniques into her unique mixed media wearable art pieces.
